PGDip Psychological Therapies Practice (Children, Young People and Families)

Programme structure

There are currently 5 strands within this Postgraduate Diploma qualification, which each have different entry requirements and modules. These are:  

PGDip - CBT for Anxiety and Depression

 

Postgraduate diploma in cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), British Association of Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP) level two accredited course where practitioners will gain skills and knowledge in delivering evidenced-based CBT for children and young people for the treatment of depression and anxiety.

 

Suitable for practitioners who have a core profession (e.g. social workers, occupational therapists, mental health nurses) or those  with suitable evidence of working with children, families and young people to take a KSA (Knowledge, Skills and Attitudes framework)  route (e.g. counsellors, nurses, experienced support workers with graduate qualifications).

CBT Handbook

PGDip/GradDip - Parent Training for Conduct Problems (3-10 years)

 

Graduate and Postgraduate Diploma in Parent Training, BABCP level two accredited course where practitioners will gain skills and knowledge in delivering evidenced-based parenting approaches for conduct problems for children aged 3-10 years.

 

Suitable for practitioners who have a core profession (e.g. social workers, occupational therapists, mental health nurses) or those  with suitable evidence of working with children, families and young people to take a KSA (Knowledge, Skills and Attitudes framework)  route (e.g. children centre workers, counsellors, nurses, experienced support workers).

PGDip/GradDip for 0-5s

 

Graduate and postgraduate diploma in evidence based interventions for 0-5s and their parents/carers.

 

Suitable for practitioners who work with under-fives and their parents/carers by providing education and training on evidence-based developmental, infant and child mental health interventions.

PGDip - Systemic Family Practice for Depression and Conduct Problems 

 

Postgraduate diploma in systemic family practice for depression and conduct problems. Association of Family Therapy (AFT) accredited course where practitioners will develop their knowledge, skills and competency in SFP for adolescents with self-harm/depression and their families and for young people (over 10 years) with conduct problems

 

Suitable for practitioners who have a core profession only (e.g. social workers, occupational therapists, mental health nurses)

SFP Handbook

PGDip - Systemic Family Practice for Eating Disorders

 

Postgraduate diploma in systemic family practice for Eating Disorders. Association of Family Therapy (AFT) accredited course where practitioners will develop their knowledge, skills and competency in SFP for adolescents with eating disorders and their families.

 

Suitable for practitioners who have a core profession only (e.g. social workers, occupational therapists, mental health nurses)

All courses are FTE 0.8-1 (full-time if Recruit to Train posts, and 12 months in duration.

Students will study 60 credits of compulsory modules and choose 60 credits from the options available.
