Academic interviewed on BBC Radio 4 programme All in the Mind
Dr Rachel Handley from Psychology at the University of Exeter, was recently interviewed by the BBC as the ten year anniversary of the 2005 London bombings approaches.
Dr Handley’s first job was to treat people for Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and travel phobia after the bombings, within the interview she talks about the overwhelming guilt felt by many people she counselled and how cognitive behavioural therapy helped stop people experience terrifying flashbacks. Dr Handley also explains why PTSD can have a delayed onset, even as much as ten years after the original event.
